Talent is equally distributed; opportunity is not. Apprenticeship programs offer paid, on-the-job training to shape and develop talent to an employer’s unique needs and specifications. Mentors and managers support apprentices in developing essential job skills in addition to better preparing those entering the workforce to the expectations of professionalism and professional settings. Employers benefit from working with community and education organizations to engage apprentices and help welcome a new and diverse source of talent into the workplace. With workers in different generations and with different life experiences actively participating in the workforce, employers with apprentices have the opportunity to develop inter-generational and cross-cultural communication practices that create inclusive and professional organizational cultures.
