Special guests include: State Senator John Whitmire (D - Houston)  State Representative Chris Paddie (R - Marshall) State Senator John Whitmire (D - Houston) represents Senate District 15, which encompasses the northern regions of Harris County, reaching as far east as Baytown, as far west as Jersey Village, and into the heart of the City of Houston. He was elected to the Texas Senate in 1982 after serving 10 years in the Texas House of Representatives and ranks first in seniority, holding the title, "Dean of the Texas Senate." During the 87th session, Dean Whitmire led as Chair of the Criminal Justice Committee, as well as a member of the Senate Business & Commerce, Finance and Redistricting Committees.  Chris Paddie is the State Representative for Texas' 9th District. Prior to being elected to the Texas House, Representative Paddie served as the former Mayor and City Commissioner for the City of Marshall. Representative Paddie also served as Chair for the powerful State Affairs Committee this session.  The Future of Texas series features thought leaders shaping our state's future, giving Partnership members the opportunity to engage with these leaders and hear their perspectives on our city and state's most pressing issues. , , , Houston.org ghp@houston.org America/Chicago public
